Then his wife said to him, “Do you still cling to your integrity [and your faith and trust in God, without blaming Him]? Curse God and die!” But he said to her, “You speak as one of the [spiritually] foolish women speaks [ignorant and oblivious to God’s will]. Shall we indeed accept [only] good from God and not [also] accept adversity and disaster?” In [spite of] all this Job did not sin with [words from] his lips. – Job 2:9-10
In his suffering, Job had a choice to make, either to reject God and His Sovereignty or keep on trusting. Accepting God’s Sovereignty means that we trust Him in everything and realize that He’s in control. Let our faith not be negatively affected by where we’re in life or by what we’re going through now.
“God is said to be absolutely free, because no one and no thing can hinder Him or compel Him or stop Him. He is able to do as He pleases always, everywhere, forever.” – A.W. Tozer
In midst of trials, would we be able to stand with Job and not renounce God? If so, did you know that you can instruct those who have no spiritual wisdom: you can teach those who, spiritually speaking, are only just out of the cradle. You have a certain grasp of the basis of true knowledge. You have without doubt very great advantages.
God needed a human spirit as a mould to cast consolation in for every kindred in every age; and he chose one whose experience was a compound of meekness and might, of deep distress and jubilant victory. These, when purged of their dross, and fused into one by the Spirit’s baptism of fire, came forth an amalgam of sacred psalmody, which the whole church militant have been singing ever since, and “have not yet sung dry.” – William Arnot
Are we guarding the minds of our families as much as we protect our lawns from weeds? Do we emphasize hand washing more than soul consecration? What steps are we taking to ensure our homes are havens for spiritual growth?
Wisdom is a spiritual trait according to the Bible. It involves purity of life and love of God! There is a God-implanted genetic pattern in our spirit that says, “Let’s grow up.”
“Banish professionalism from our midst, O God, and in its place put passionate prayer, poverty of spirit, hunger for God, rigorous study of holy things, white-hot devotion to Jesus Christ, utter indifference to all material gain, and unremitting labor to rescue the perishing, perfect the saints, and glorify our sovereign Lord. In Jesus’ great and powerful name. Amen.”
Jesus says in John 4:24, God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth,” meaning we must worship to the fullest of God’s intent as revealed in His Word, with every act guided and determined by His revealed truth.
By proclaiming “Christ within” without the Substance, people meet a form of godliness by knowledge and self-determination, and not by the real Substance of true godliness within, Jesus Christ in His Own Person and Spirit. Only by His coming to dwell within can Christ do the work of transformation, which is our salvation.
